1. Introduction & Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how Focus Guard (“we”, “our”, or “the App”) collects, uses, stores and discloses information when you install and use the App on your Android device. The App’s priority is local device operation; we aim to collect minimal data and respect your privacy.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Data Stored Locally (Default Behavior)
The App stores the following information on the user’s device:
Selected app list(s) to block or monitor.
Schedules, timers and mode settings (Child Mode, Study Mode, Night Mode).
Local block/unblock history and simple usage metadata required for functionality.
This data remains on the device and is not transmitted to the developer by default.
2.2 Device Permissions & What They Reveal
Accessibility Access: allows the App to detect the currently active (foreground) application so it can enforce blocking. The App does not capture or transmit screen contents or personal messages.
Usage Access: allows the App to read app usage events necessary to decide when to block or unblock.
Microphone (optional): required only if you enable voice-assistant features. Audio data will be used for processing voice commands.
2.3 Optional Data Transmission to Third Parties
If you enable voice/chat assistant features, your audio and/or text may be transmitted to third-party providers (for example, NLP or AI service providers) to process commands and produce responses. Such transmission occurs only after explicit consent and only for the duration and purpose of processing your request. Third parties may store or retain such data according to their policies.
3. Purposes for Which We Use Data
To provide and operate core blocking and scheduling features locally on your device.
To process voice and chat commands if you explicitly enable those features (via third-party services).
For debugging and crash reporting if you opt into crash/usage analytics (if applicable). Crash/analytics data will be limited to technical diagnostics and will be disclosed to third-party crash-reporting services only with your consent.
4. Sharing and Disclosure
Default: We do not share your local device data with any third parties.
Optional: If you enable chat/voice features, the relevant audio/text will be shared with third-party processing services. We will identify these services in the App and you will be asked to consent before enabling them.
We may disclose information if required by law or to protect legal rights.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Local data (settings, schedules, history) is retained on your device until you clear the App data or uninstall the App.
Data sent to third parties (voice/text) will be retained according to the third party’s policy — this will be disclosed on the consent screen before you enable the feature.
If you provided personal data to us directly (for example via support email), you may request deletion by contacting focusguard291@gmail.com.
6. Security
We implement reasonable technical measures to protect local data on your device. However, no system is completely secure. You are responsible for device security (PINs, device-level encryption, etc.) to protect locally stored data.
7. Children & Parental Controls
Focus Guard is intended to be used by adults to manage device access for minors when desired. If you are a parent using the App to control a minor’s device, you must comply with applicable laws regarding child data and parental consent. If you are under the age required by local law to use the App, obtain parental permission.
8. International Transfers
All default processing occurs locally on your device. If you enable optional features that transmit data externally, data may be transferred to service providers located outside your country; these transfers will be described in the consent prompt.
9. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the App or otherwise. Continued use after notice constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
10. Your Rights & Choices
You may disable optional features (voice/chat) at any time from the App settings.
You may request deletion of personal data you have provided to us (for example via support email) by contacting focusguard291@gmail.com.
